Community websites and a central dashboard for a multifamily property manager with apartment homes across many states.
The client manages apartment communities for property owners across many states, and every one of those communities needs its own online presence to attract renters. Keeping dozens of websites accurate, on brand and up to date is hard when each site is handled separately. The client also needed a clear, shared view of those sites and the inquiries they bring in, so regional and corporate staff weren't relying on property-by-property updates.
Hexagon built websites and a dashboard for the client's residential portfolio. The corporate site explains the company to owners, renters and job seekers and links to each community. Community websites present floor plans, amenities and photos and collect tour requests. The dashboard gives staff one place to oversee sites, keep content current and see the inquiries coming in by community, without a separate login or vendor for each property.
A renter sees one apartment community. The manager has to look after all of them.
When each apartment community gets its own website, brand, layout and legal text drift over time. An out-of-date page makes a well-run property look neglected to someone choosing where to live.
We built community sites from shared templates, so brand and required content stay consistent while each property keeps its own photos and details.
A leasing office may need a special or a new photo live today. If every update waits on a web vendor, the promotion is over before it reaches renters.
We gave staff a dashboard to edit community content directly, so routine changes don't need a developer or a support ticket.
Corporate and regional staff can't call every property to ask how inquiries are going. A community with falling interest may go unnoticed until vacancy shows up in the numbers.
We put inquiries by community into the dashboard, so staff can compare properties and spot a quiet one early on.
A manager takes on new properties and hands others back regularly. Building a site from scratch every time delays marketing just when a new owner expects to see it.
We made launching a community site a matter of setting up a new record on the template, instead of starting a new build.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Renters and prospects | |
| 1. Community Pages | Each property has its own site with photos, location details and neighborhood context. |
| 2. Floor Plans | Unit types and layouts are shown clearly, helping renters decide whether it's worth a visit. |
| 3. Amenities and Features | Sites list amenities and efficiency features, including energy and water measures where a property has them. |
| 4. Tour and Contact Requests | Prospects send an inquiry or ask for a tour directly from the community site, giving the leasing office a lead to follow up. |
| 5. Community Finder | The corporate site lists communities by state, so a renter can jump straight to the right property site. |
| 6. Fair Housing and Required Notices | Required statements appear consistently on every site, so individual properties don't have to remember them. |
| Owners and corporate audience | |
| 7. Corporate Website | Pages explain the property management service and the company's approach for owners considering a manager. |
| 8. Resident Program Pages | Community-building and sustainability work get their own space, showing owners how the company approaches resident retention. |
| 9. Careers and Contact | Job seekers and owners have direct routes in, keeping those messages away from leasing inboxes. |
| Corporate and regional staff | |
| 10. Portfolio Dashboard | One view lists all communities and their website status, replacing separate logins for each site. |
| 11. Inquiries by Community | Tour requests and contact forms are counted per property, making comparison across the portfolio simple. |
| 12. Central Content Editing | Staff update text, photos and specials from the dashboard, and changes appear on the live site. |
| 13. New Community Setup | A new property gets its site from the shared template, shortening the time before it can start marketing. |
| 14. Shared Brand Templates | Headers, footers and required text are managed centrally, so one change reaches every site. |
| 15. User Roles | Site staff manage their own properties while corporate users see the full portfolio. |
Each layer has one job.
The client's communities now sit on shared website templates, with one dashboard for overseeing them. Staff can update properties and review inquiries without going to each site in turn.
| Area | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Website updates | Dependent on outside help, one site at a time | Staff edit content in one dashboard |
| Brand consistency | Sites could drift apart over time | Shared templates and centrally managed required text |
| Portfolio visibility | Property-by-property status updates | Sites and inquiries listed by community in one view |
| New properties | A new website project each time | A new community record on the existing template |
Good software follows a process. Here are the six stages, and what happens in each one.
Goal: Define the product vision, target audience and core business requirements.
Key activitiesGoal: Create an intuitive user experience and visual interface.
Key activitiesGoal: Build the functional application using agile sprints.
Key activitiesGoal: Harden the application against vulnerabilities and boost performance.
Key activitiesGoal: Deploy to a controlled group of real users to catch edge-case bugs and gather feedback.
Key activitiesGoal: Roll the software out to the general public.
Key activitiesSpecials and photos can go live when the leasing office needs them.
Every community presents the same standard to renters and owners.
A community that has gone quiet shows up in the dashboard.
New management contracts get a marketing site without a separate build.
A multifamily manager's web presence is really dozens of small websites that all need to stay accurate at once. Hexagon gave the client shared templates, individual community sites and a dashboard that lets its staff oversee the portfolio from one screen. Owners see a professional standard, renters see current information and staff stop chasing updates. If you manage apartment communities and your websites have become a patchwork of vendors and logins, we'd enjoy talking through how to bring them together.
